<p>If you&#8217;re looking for an idiot proof diet, it doesn&#8217;t mean you&#8217;re an idiot. What it does mean is you&#8217;re looking for a simple to understand diet that can be followed without worrying about counting calories, thinking about what to eat all day, and wrecking any progress you made with a late night trip to fridge.</p>
<p>I like to think the <a href="<a href="http://losefree.com/how-it-works/">Lose Free Diet</a> is mostly idiot proof. You don&#8217;t count calories. You don&#8217;t worry about how many pounds you lost any given day or week. You don&#8217;t need to be a mathematician or chemist to figure out what you can eat. You simply make healthier food choices by eliminating added sugars and unnecessary fats and exercise at least 3 times a week. You won&#8217;t see instant results &#8211; but you will see lasting gradual results that help you achieve your weight loss goals.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not an idiot (at least I hope not!) but I&#8217;m not a diet professional either &#8211; and if it helped me lose weight, I&#8217;m sure it could help other people who have failed at other diets before. There&#8217;s nothing risky or revolutionary about it really, it simply applies common sense with the same diet guidelines set forth by the US Department of Agriculture. Fortunately, Losing weight for free is easy just by making a couple of simple changes to your diet. You don&#8217;t always have to dramatically change your eating habits to lose weight &#8211; sometimes just a few simple food choices and food substitutes can make a huge difference just after a few weeks of making the switch.</p>
<p><strong>Here are 5 easy changes for your diet to lose weight for free:</strong></p>
<p>1. <strong>Switch to Whole Grain: </strong>Refined flour and its food products (such as white bread, white rice, white flour, etc.) are not good for you. Instead, go for whole grain foods &#8211; whole grain cereal, whole wheat bread, oatmeal, and others have not only more nutritional value, but are also absorbed in your body differently as &#8220;good carbs&#8221;. So next time you&#8217;re at the grocery store, try buying the whole grain pastas, breads, and other carbs. Be sure you read the nutrition label, as many companies will try to trick you into thinking the food is whole grain when in fact it may have refined (or &#8220;enriched&#8221;) flours hiding in the ingredients list. Don&#8217;t be scared to try some new grains, such as Quinoa or rice pasta.</p>
<p>2. <strong>Reduce Your Sugar: </strong>Going sugar free can make a HUGE difference, not only in your progress in losing weight for free, but also in your mood and general happiness. Refined sugar can wreak havoc on your energy levels and your body&#8217;s ability to burn fat. Try to avoid sugar when possible, but if you&#8217;re craving for something sweet look for alternatives that don&#8217;t cause blood sugar spikes, such as pure maple syrup (not artificial!) or unrefined cane sugar.</p>
<p>3. <strong>Go Organic</strong>: These days most food comes over processed and full of everything from chemicals and additives to foods that make you unwell because they are lacking the nutrition your body needs. Not only will switching to organic foods help your body detoxify, but it also tastes way better, too.</p>
<p>4. <strong>Eat more veggies: </strong>Instead of snacking on potato chips or a candy bar, why not have some carrots or asparagus? Okay, so I know that doesn&#8217;t sound that great (or easy) but just by gradually adding a few more veggies to your diet, you will have more success in your quest to lose weight for free. Don&#8217;t be afraid to experiment and add veggies into dishes you already enjoy &#8211; spaghetti, chili, or stir fry are all great meals you can add more veggies to. You can&#8217;t get fat eating vegetables, so eat all you want.</p>
<p>5. <strong>Drink more water: </strong>Chances are you&#8217;re not drinking as much water as you should be. Anytime you are feeling hungry (especially if you know the hunger is probably stemming from boredom) drink 1 full glass of water before you have your snack You should also try to drink a glass before and with meals to help you control your portion sizes. Another good alternative is to make a smoothie of fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>Making these 5 simple changes to your diet won&#8217;t help you see results overnight &#8211; but just by starting to practice these tips will help you ease into the diet without a total diet overhaul or dramatically changing your eating habits yet &#8211; making it much easier to stick to your diet as time goes on.</p>

<p>Before you start your diet, there are a few things you should do that will ultimately help you choose and create a weight loss plan for you. Here are 5 important things to do before starting any diet plan, no matter if you purchase a diet plan or decide to lose weight for free.</p>
<p><strong>#1: CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN!</strong><br />
Dieting is more than just losing weight &#8211; it is also important for better health. But this doesn&#8217;t mean all diets are healthy! While the diet plan I follow is healthy, it doesn&#8217;t mean my diet is right for everybody. There could be many other underlying conditions to the reasons you may feel tired, depressed, or overeat. You could have a thyroid disorder or even undiagnosed diabetes. Simple blood tests can help diagnose these problems and if there is a disorder that needs treated it will be easier to lose weight with treatment of underlying disorders. I am not a physician and every person&#8217;s body is different. Talk to a doctor, even if you think you are healthy.</p>
<p><strong>2. Record Your Eating Habits:</strong> Take note of everything you eat for one entire week. While this chore may seem tedious, after a day or two it will be much easier. Make sure you write down the time, how you feel, and the portion size and the food. It doesn&#8217;t matter what it is &#8211; if you ate the crust from your son&#8217;s peanut butter sandwich &#8211; write it down! Make sure to also include any beverages, including alcoholic beverages, in the list. You might see commercials on TV for free weight loss plans or revolutionary diet drugs. Even while you&#8217;re grocery shopping you&#8217;ll see higher priced foods for these diet plans.</p>
<p>While some diets are cheaper than others, most of them come at some price. You start feeling more confident &#8211; and more committed to eating healthier when it does work.</p>

<p><strong>Motivation for Weight Loss</strong>:  Finding the motivation and the will power to lose weight is tricky. I know I didn&#8217;t want to exercise. It wasn&#8217;t until I became motivated that I could really finally find that willpower to stick to my new diet plan.</p>
<p><strong>Analysis of Your Current Eating Habits</strong>: Chances are you&#8217;re not really aware of what you eat or why you eat the foods you do. Do you read nutrition labels? Turn to sweets? Eat things that give you less energy? After looking at what I was eating everyday, I realized I was eating over 700 grams of <a href="http://losefree.com/2008/09/10-ways-how-to-stop-sugar-cravings/">sugar</a> everyday and maybe only 5 grams of protein. That&#8217;s a lot of sugar and not nearly enough protein to be healthy!</p>

<p><strong>Realistic Exercise Habits</strong>: A lot of diet plans will say to take up walking or bike riding or a sport or aerobics.
