Is there such a thing as a cellulite cure? Could a pair of cellulite shorts be the answer to getting rid of excess fat and those little dimples in thighs and other areas affected? That’s exactly what we’ll be looking at today as we take a look at explaining what cellulite is and the many different things available to try…or not try :)

The first question many will ask of course is what is cellulite?

You may very well likely have it and noticed it without ever knowing exactly what it is. Basically it is an area of skin that looks dimpled or lumpy, usually in the back or sides of the thighs. It is caused by deposits of fat being stored that are pressed against the skin. Most women (and also some men) will get it naturally with age, and it is most noticeable when you are overweight, though it does not always happen only to people who are overweight or as you get older.

For some it can be quite embarrassing. You may feel uncomfortable about wearing a bathing suit or wearing shorts because of it. For some it can be a major source of feeling insecure of self conscious.

The next question everyone has is naturally what is the cellulite cure? Can wearing a pair of shorts make the difference?

We’ve done a lot of research on different treatment options available. There’s all types of promises out there and products and some of them are downright silly in logic – others are no guarantee to stop the problem from recurring or could have many potential threatening side effects.

Let’s look at some of the possible treatments:

1. Creams and Lotions: There’s no medically supported evidence that creams and lotions will actually solve the problem. They may loosen the skin, but it doesn’t do anything to combat the root of the problem – which is excess fat deposits in the legs or thighs. Some people have even suggested using self tanning lotions as a method of covering it up, since it is less noticeable in darker skin than lighter skin!

2. Liposuction/Surgery: Cosmetic surgery and liposuction treatments (which basically is “sucking the fat out”) are not only expensive, but they can also be risky. Any type of surgical procedure has its potential negative effects, and it should only be done when recommended by a doctor or if medically necessary. It also does not guarantee to stop the problem from recurring. Not to mention it would be extremely expensive and here we like to talk about how to lose weight for free :)

3. Diet and Exercise: This one actually makes sense. Dieting and exercising is the only proven and safe way to get rid of excess fat, and naturally it would help with reducing the deposits in thighs or legs. Recently I’ve stumbled across an interesting blog about How to Get Rid of Cellulite that focuses on exactly what steps to take to say goodbye to it for good, and yes it involves a special program of dieting and exercise. It’s not free, but you’d spend a lot less on their ebook than you would on trying millions of different supposed miracle creams and lotions that will never in a million years work!

Lastly, another popular option is wearing cellulite shorts. This is special clothing you can wear that is supposed to help you lose excess fat.  The shorts are made out neoprene and a lycra lining (spandex basically) which is supposed to help you produce more heat while exercising. The additional heat from wearing this type of clothing claims to improve circulation, help cells break down faster, and renew skin tissue. This pair of Delfin Spa Bio Ceramic Anti Cellulite Shorts is one of the least expensive and highest rated pair of shorts available on Amazon.  The majority of the reviews are very positive, saying that they have been able to lose weight while using them or find them very comfortable. The few negative reviews seem to be from those who are not exercising. (See All Reviews)

We couldn’t find any medically supported evidence to prove that heat causes you to lose weight faster or more effectively.  While yes you may lose weight if you sweat profusely, you’d likely only lose water weight – not the fat cells that create dimples in your skin.

The bottom line: There is no “miracle” cure for cellulite, apart from dieting and exercising. Cellulite shorts might make you feel more comfortable or feel more productive, and there’s certainly no harm in trying them. But there’s no guarantee that anything will reduce those dimples overnight or even in a week. Like all dieting and weight loss, it takes time and perseverance to see results for a healthier happier you.
