When you’re vacationing or traveling for business or other purposes, you might wonder how you will be able to incorporate your workout routine and into your travel plans and stick your diet. You might have been able to find a great cheap hotel in Amsterdam, but once you’re there it’s pretty likely you might never check out their gym or fitness center while visiting.
If you’re planning to travel, here are some tips to help you stick to your diet and exercise plan while abroad:
Take a Foot Tour: Walking around the city or attraction you are visiting can be a great way to get some extra exercise during your trip. You can see all the sights and get a nice work out all at the same time!
Take the Stairs: The hotel elevator may be tempting, especially if you’re staying on one of the top floors. But the stairs will help you stay in shape and get your heart pumping without taking any extra time.
Pack Your Own Healthy Snacks: If you have your own healthy snacks on hand, you will be able to avoid having to stop somewhere that doesn’t offer healthy foods. Things like carrot sticks, whole grain wheat crackers and cheese, and plenty of bottled water can be excellent travel snacks.
Choose Your Indulgences Wisely: Vacations tend to be an occasion where you will want to treat yourself. See if you can get a low-fat version of that dessert from that famous restaurant or if you have a glass of wine, skip dessert all together. Most places are also able to take special requests for whole grain or sugar free substitutions, so there’s no harm in asking.
Pack Resistance Bands or Weights: If you pack a small portable type of fitness equipment or weights, you may be able to exercise right in the comfort of your hotel room. Bring your laptop, and you can even listen to some grea
Go Swimming: If your hotel offers a pool or you will be staying somewhere with water facilities available, doing swimming exercises can offer a fun and relaxing way to workout during vacation or a business trip.
Whether you’re traveling to the Bahamas for a weekend of tropical fun or a business trip in busy New York City, you’ll be sure to find these tips to help you stay on track with your diet and exercise routine while traveling.
