High Fat Low Carbs

When I first started learning about dieting and nutrition, I like most people thought about starting off with high fat low carbs kind of diets. But as I researched more and more, I realized that it wasn’t necessarily the carbs that were bad for you, and that certainly high fat wasn’t good for you either.

If you’re considering high fat low carbs kind of diets, you need to really carefully look at what you are doing to your body.

Carbs, usually found in grains, pastas, and other similar foods (though they are also present in vegetables) to many dieters are thought to be the enemy. And sure, if all you ate day in and day out were refined grains such as white bread and you never had any protein, vegetables, or dairy and other foods, then yes, a high carb diet wouldn’t be a good for you. But if you switch over to whole grains and balance them out so you are eating the recommended daily servings for grains along with things like veggies, protein, and dairy, carbs are not the enemy. In fact, they are good for you.

High fat on the other hand is not so good for you. Too much fat can result in problems with liver and heart disease. Losing body fat can also take a lot longer than simply just losing weight quickly. There’s a reason that many people looking for fast weight loss solutions are looking for things such as fat burning pills.

The simple fact is a good diet needs good balance. You should not have high fat low carbs just as you should not want high carbs and low fat. Eating plenty of vegetables and exercising regularly and balancing your diet between carbs, protein, and fat can help you achieve your diet goals permanently – without the risk of gaining all of the weight back as soon as you cheat on the diet or decide to stop.
